Life Hack For Your Smartphone Addiction

As moms, we have enough pressures and things to worry about. We already feel guilty about a million things - not feeding our kids healthy organic grass-fed meals full of veggies every day, not exercising and doing the “self-care” thing enough, not disciplining our kids the right way, etc.

I could go on, but, you get it.

So now we have all this information out about how we are addicted to our smart phones, and how it’s changing our brains.

I don’t have to explain the frustration when you are spending time with people in your life who can’t help themselves but respond to a text IMMEDIATELY even when you are talking to them - oh wait… pretty sure I do that too.

In fact, I'm pretty sure my kids get quite frustrated with me about the amount of time I'm on my phone...

I don’t feel that I need to go into the “dangers” of our excessive smartphone use at all. We all get it. It’s just another thing we are doing WRONG.

Don’t get me wrong though! I do believe that we need to make it a priority to limit our smartphone use, and overall technology use.

I want to set a better example for my kids, and I do not want their lives, ESPECIALLY when they are in their childhood, to be spent in cyberspace.

But here’s the thing, I am a HUGE believer in making things EASIER on ourselves. Stressing about things we aren’t able to change just adds to our problems!

And this is a tough one because for many of us, our smartphones & technology are so intertwined with our life!

“Messy Bun & Getting Stuff Done” - yeah! On our phones!! Like ordering groceries, scheduling appointments, checking in with our moms, EVERYTHING!

And not only are we on our phones with a purpose, but then we are constantly finding ourselves reaching for it for no reason at all!

And, for me, my totally automatic brain-turned-off action is to check Facebook, Instagram, and my store traffic. Constantly. It’s embarrassing to admit.

So how do we hack this problem? What can we do to INSTANTLY make this bad habit a little easier to break?

I came up with an idea. And I am so excited about it!

What if we had a message ON OUR PHONE CASE that reminded us to leave the dang thing alone for a little bit?

So every time we reached for it, we see that message, and hopefully decide not to grab it.

Maybe if we use this case, we’ll find out that we don’t really NEED to be on our phones as much as we think we do.

Maybe our relationships will improve because when we are with someone, we are WITH someone.

Maybe we won’t be so constantly overstimulated.

Maybe we’ll automatically start to set a better example for our kids.

So this is the reason I designed these phone cases. To help myself and other addicted mommas to break this silly yet destructive habit.

I would LOVE to hear what you think about this idea, so please leave a comment and let me know!

I just want to say, we all need to lighten up a little bit. In this culture, it’s really tough to be a “perfect parent.”

Our schedules are so crazy. We have to work a million hours just to make it. Many of us are living in survival mode.

And the thing is, we need to give ourselves a bit of grace. We won’t be perfect. We’ll mess up. And it’s going to be okay.

Instead of stressing about how bad at parenting we are, let’s focus on small changes we can make that will help make a difference in our homes.

Let’s take small steps that DON’T overwhelm us, but still move us forward.

Let’s always strive to be the best parents we can be, but let’s have a ton of grace for ourselves. After all, our kids are watching us, and do we want them constantly beating themselves up in life? No.

“There is no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” Jill Churchill

I chose to put my designs on a cell phone wallet case. The reason I did this is because they are great quality, and because I am able to put the message on both sides.

So whether your phone is sitting face up, or face down, you’ll see that message whenever you reach for it!

And since wallet phone cases are so popular these days, I figured my audience would enjoy them the most!
